Orthopro is an independent Orthotics and Prosthetics practice that services the Greater Wellington Region, Whanganui-Manawatu and beyond. We currently require an enthusiastic Full-time Orthotist Prosthetist to complement our expanding practice. The candidates will need to be dedicated and able to work independently as well as be part of a close-knit team. We are offering a competitive salary based on relevant experience with the prospect of future involvement in the business if desired. Remuneration dependant on skills and experience ($62 400 – $93 600) working a 40 hour week.

About The Role

  • Design, manufacture and fit orthotic and prosthetic devices, based on physicians’
    prescriptions plus examination and measurement of patients through a holistic
    approach taking into consideration the individual disabilities, age and cultural
    beliefs.
  • Measurement and fitting of medical compression garments.
  • Measurement and modification of surgical footwear and insoles.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, taking into account
    the importance of family, whanau and community in the rehabilitation of an
    individual.
  • Make modified plaster casts of areas that will be fitted with orthoses or prostheses.
  • Select materials and components to be used on device design.
  • Repair, rebuild and modify orthotic and prosthetic appliances.
  • Train, and supervise support staff, like orthotic and prosthetic assistant technicians.
  • Constructs fabricate appliances or supervise others constructing the appliances.
  • Demonstration and instruction of orthotic and prosthetic devices to healthcare
    workers with regards to the application and maintenance of such devices.
  • Update skills and research new ways to construct as well as use orthotic and
    prosthetic devices.
  • Maintain patients records.
  • Practice safe working routines and housekeeping procedures at all times according
    to the Health and Safety Act.
  • Other assigned duties from time to time to meet Orthopro service or contractual
    requirements.

Skills And Experience

– Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the field.

– Peoples skills.
– A proper understanding of:

  • The New Zealand Healthcare system including the governance structures, policies,
    and legislation on healthcare services in New Zealand would be an advantage.
  • Holistic health of individuals with disabilities, older adults, and palliative care of
    patients.
  • Different rehabilitation models including Maori health models.
  • The importance of multi-disciplinary team approach and the importance of family,
    whanau, and community in the rehabilitation of an individual.
